Henderson has marked a construction milestone for a neighborhood housing project on Letcher Street.

City officials held a groundbreaking for a new home at 102 Letcher Street, moving the H.E.R.O. Project into a new phase.

The project originated during the first year of the city’s Inner City Improvement Plan and was proposed by the 2023 Public Safety Committee.

Its stated goals include strengthening public safety and neighborhood conditions.

The city also solicited construction bids for the H.E.R.O. House this fall.

The groundbreaking marks a beginning, rather than a completed home.

For residents following neighborhood investment, the Letcher Street site offers a specific project to watch as construction proceeds.

Completion timing and details about the home’s eventual use will be important points for future updates.
