A major outdoor retailer is planning a new destination store in Paducah, adding another potential draw to the western Kentucky shopping market.

Bass Pro Shops announced plans for a location near Kentucky Oaks Mall, positioned to serve shoppers from the greater Four Rivers region.

The project has been described as a roughly 70,000-square-foot store with an outdoor-oriented shopping environment.

The retailer's concept combines merchandise for activities such as fishing and camping with displays that reflect the region's outdoor traditions.

For Paducah, the proposed store could strengthen retail activity around the mall and the nearby commercial corridor.

It may also attract customers who already visit western Kentucky for boating, fishing and recreation around the region's lakes.

An announcement does not mean the new store is already open, and the projected debut remains subject to construction and operational decisions.

Earlier planning information pointed toward late 2026 or early 2027, but a final opening date should be verified before making plans.

The practical next questions concern construction progress, hiring, traffic and a firm opening schedule.

For shoppers and local businesses, this is a project worth watching as Paducah continues to evolve as a regional destination.
